バッチフラワーレメディは、１９３６年イギリス人の医師であり、細菌学者であった エドワード・バッチ博士によって確立された、感情や精神のバランスを取りもどすための花療法（自然療法）です。

医師であったバッチ博士は、患者の治療に取り組むうちに、患者の性格や精神状態が、病気の治癒に大きな影響を及ぼしていると言う事実に気付きました。そして、病気を根本的に治療するため、また根本的な病気予防を行うためには、『健康な精神』が不可欠であるとの確信を得ました。
1934年、ロンドンを離れ、自然豊かなオックスフォード郊外のマウントバーノンに移住。
そこで野生の植物に心や感情を癒す働きがあることを発見します。
1936年、研究の末、38種類のバッチフラワーレメディは、完成されました。
38種類レメディの組み合わせで、さまざまなマイナス感情が癒されます。
そのバッチ博士は、ある自身の経験から、花に不思議なエネルギーがあることを感じ取ります。
そして、特定の感情や精神状態をなだめるのに特定の草花が有効であると言うことを体系付け、38種類のフラワーレメディを完成させました。
60年以上の歴史を持つこのバッチフラワーレメディは、現在、母国イギリスにおいては、ブーツ （1,300店舗を誇る有名ドラッグストア）や、 ハロッズ（高級デパート店）をはじめ、 町のどんな小さな薬屋でも扱っているほど、生活の中に浸透しています。
また、故ダイアナ元皇太子妃が愛用していたことでも知られています。

このフラワーレメディを1935年に完成させたエドワード・バッチ博士（1886-1936）は、イギリスの高名な医師であり、細菌学者・病理学者・ホメオパシー医。
