すずらんの日は、大切な人にすずらんの花を贈る日です。
古くからフランス国内では、5月1日にすずらんを贈る風習があるそうです。
すずらんは、幸福をもたらす花といわれているため、このすずらんの日には日頃の感謝や想いを込めて、身近な人にすずらんの花が贈られます。
5月1日のフランスでは、すずらんの花が街のいたるところで売られるそうです。
この日だけは、販売許可を持たない一般の人でもすずらんの花を売ることが可能で、 こどもや一般の人たちによって、たくさんのすずらんが街頭に並びます。
ただし、販売にはルールが設けられているそうです。

学名：Convallaria majalis var.keiskei
「Convallaria」は、ラテン語の「convallis=谷」と「leirion=ユリ」の言葉を合わせて作られました。
科・属名：ユリ科に属する多年草の植物
原産地：アジア、ヨーロッパ、北アメリカ
アジアでは、日本、朝鮮半島、ロシアのサハリン・シベリアに自生
日本には、本州の高い山や北海道などの寒いところに生えています
花言葉：幸運の再来 ・意識をしない美しさ ・純粋 ・純潔
犬 猫に危険なすずらん
とても可愛らしいすずらんですが、実は毒を持っています。
部位：全ての部位に毒性、特に花と根、花瓶の水も
有害成分：コンバラトキシン、コンバラマリン
症状：嘔吐、下痢、ヨダレ、多尿・頻尿、痙攣、麻痺、四肢の脱力、呼吸困難、心拍数の異常、低血圧、意識障害など 突然死することも
花瓶に生けた場合、その水を飲んで中毒反応が出ることもあるので、犬さんや猫さんには届かない場所に。
散歩中にもそこここにある草花。何でも口に入れてしまうようなタイプのコは、特にお気をつけください。
※個体差もあり、また、摂取量などによって、すべてのペットが中毒反応を起こすというわけではありません
この他に、まだたくさんありますので、少なくとも自分の家にある植物については、一度毒性について調べておくのをおすすめします。
食べてしまった時の応急処置と治療
1.食べてしまった量と種類の把握
まずはどれくらいの量のどんな植物を食べてしまったのかを把握します。
植物名がわからない場合には犬が草を食べていた場所の写真を撮っておくといいでしょう。
余裕があれば食べた植物を採取しておくこともおすすめします。
2.吐かせる
誤食してしまった時には吐かせたいところですが、吐かせ方がわからない人が無理に吐かせようとして犬の食道を傷めてしまう可能性もあります。
動物病院に行けない場合には電話などで獣医師の指示を仰ぐのがいいかもしれません。
3.症状が出る前に動物病院へ
症状が出てしまっている時には至急動物病院に連絡をして、搬送してください。
最後に
家の中にもお散歩コースにも、危険な植物がたくさん存在しています。
まずは食べてはいけない植物を知っておきましょう。
なるべく口にさせないように気をつけることはもちろんですが、家の中では手の届く範囲に危険なものを置かないことが大切です。
愛犬を守るために気をつけましょう。
