卵の値段が高くなる？アニマルウェルフェア
あなたは、ニワトリの健康を望みますか？
それとも安い卵を望みますか？
今、『アニマルウェルフェア』という考えが世界中に広まってきています。
私、実は、「Integrateve Animal Wellness Adviser」という資格を持っております。
『アニマルウェルフェア』という言葉に敏感だったりします。
これは、NHKで放送した「クローズアップ現代」を見たまとめと私の考えをまとめたものです。
今日は、ニワトリの健康を望むとなぜ卵が高くなるのかについて書きます。
今日の内容
アニマルウェルフェア（Animal Welfare）とは
アニマルウェルフェア（Animal Welfare）とは
家畜のストレス・苦痛が少ない飼育環境
世界的にSDGs（持続可能な開発目標）が注目されています。
大企業も取り組んでいるところが多いです。
SDGsの意識の高まりとともに、アニマルウェルフェアという考えも社会に根づいてきています。
SDGs的には、「12 つくる責任 つかう責任」が該当されます。
マクドナルドは、アニマルウェルフェアに配慮した卵へ切り替える。と宣言しています。COSTOCO、SUBWAY、スターバックス、Walmartも相次いで打ち出してきました。
欧米に広がるアニマルウェルフェア
- 2012年 EUでは従来型のケージでの飼育全面禁止
消費者のSDGsの意識の高まりとともにアニマルウェルフェアが社会に根付いていった。
その流れは、アメリカにも
- 2022年1月からカリフォルニア州は、ケージ飼育・販売禁止
そのために卵の価格が高騰しています。
消費者は、「ちょっと高いけど、健康面の価値はあります」
「動物らしい生活を送り、食品になったものを食べたい。動物が受けたストレスは肉や卵を通して伝わると思うんです」
- タイでは、商品大手がケージフリーを推進。
- 韓国では、鶏1羽あたりの飼育スペースを定めた新たな法律が施行
- 日本にも影響
「動物の快適性を求めれば、その分コストもかかるし、手間もかかる。
社会的なルールにしてしまわれるのは困りますね」日本の生産者の声
これにより卵の値段が上がることになります。

「（ケージやケージフリーなどの）各方式にはそれぞれアニマルウェルフェア上のメリットとデメリットがある。そういうものを一概に比較してどれが「最も優れている」ということは難しい状況だと思っている。
ハード ソフト療法を備えた総合的な取り組みですし、多様な取り組みは認めるべき。」（農林水産省）
つまり国としてはアニマルウェルフェアの趣旨には賛同しているけれど、いろいろなやり方を認めるべきだということなんでしょうか。

安くて質のいいものが溢れている日本の消費者が
アメリカ人のような考え方をするかどうかが問題ですね。
日本は、安くて質がいいものが当たり前なので、
このアニマルウェルフェアは難しい感じがします。
日本人は、材料費で価格を計算しがちですが、
その向こう側には、人件費や設備費などがあることを考えなければいけなくなってきていると思います。
この物価の安さは、人件費が安い国だということ。
できることから進めることが大事ですよね。
消費者が変わることで、企業も変わってきます。
このアニマルウェルネスのこの番組を見て思っていたのが、犬のケージ問題です。
